Adulting and all #3
Good habits, new places, more sunsets, better outfits, work load, managing social media presence... okay but for reals the list is never ending!
Helluuu all, How are you all doing? (No really asking you to feel free to reply to this mail🥺 by maybe ranting or sharing something awesome)
My current update is that I'm trying to get back to being disciplined and following some good habits. Since 2021 I got super active on Twitter and I used to read through a lot of quotes so that I could share a few with my community. But recently I have been literally experiencing all the quotes, and sayings in a way. Like one of them was:
“Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into but hard to get out of.”
I mean having a good sleep cycle is something I was proud of a lot, but now it's just so messed up. Waking up early is also something I'm struggling with these days.
But today (as I'm writing this in the office) I finally pushed myself to wake up on time even though my eyes felt heavy and were burning as I forcibly opened them. I just sat on my bed for a while, mumbled as to why I had to wake up but got up anyway... Because I had to keep the trash outside for the cleaning people to pick up, call the cleaning lady to clean the house as it wasn't cleaned for a while (and it stunk ugh), had to have breakfast as I'm going to work... So I started with keeping trash out, brushed my teeth, and took a very nice hot water bath. And completed the cleaning tasks of my mind and oh my god the satisfaction came gushing in as I sat there having tea🥺💓
Realized a few more related popular motivational sayings:-
taking the first step is necessary; satisfaction after work is just top-tier; a good start of the day includes waking up on time
By early I mean not very early but good enough than waking up half an hour before and rushing. No, I'm not here to be like you guys should do it too, I'm just sharing what feels noice to me about incorporating a good habit.
Your good habit goals might be different than mine and that's totally cool! I'll just say I'm proud of you that you are trying and making an effort to take the baby steps to get into the good habit finally :)
A peek into my life (Hey it's March!)
This part has a few unrelated segments so bear with me, hehe.
Had literally the most amazing trip with 14 people (yes, I'll pause for you to gasp a bit at the number). This trip was as refreshing as it seems in the collage and gave me enough stories to tell my kids about my friends (haha… for reals!!)
It literally had everything— adventure, salty hair, sand all over the place, recreating the mermaid from FRIENDS (sitcom), twinning for a dinner (yes we all wore white, classy much?), wearing the best formal outfits on the beach (this looked damn classy!!), photoshoots, making reels, trying out new restaurants every day on the Varkala cliff, having heavy brunches, crazy nights and more… Yeah I actually didn’t even romanticize the above things while writing.
Some things I out of this trip were that:
The people you go with matter so much — like the vibe of everyone solely decide whether you’ll have a good experience or not(and yes I consider myself very lucky to have 13 such people)
Trying out new food never disappoints.
Alone time is necessary regardless of how many people you going with.
Never taking work(office) with me again when I go to Varkala, Kerala. Creative work I guess I can manage :)
Being on a traveler full of couples sucks (haha, not kidding!)
Seafood always makes me happy (oh this was very personal)
Oh yesss and I also got my standard display picture through this trip:
People who are following me on Instagram know about the very aesthetic spam and felt like “Bilwa is living her life!!” To break the beautiful bubble I’d like to say:
It was a workation and somehow during that period of time itself, I had like super long meetings till 7😭.
Secondly, to tell you there were many parallel stories in the group with a whole lot of drama running and there were some emotional up-downs for me too (but yeah only good memories, no BT)
People got injured too while surfing, so that was one of the bummers too.
Honestly, it was one of the best trips I had with such a good number of friends, and not gonna lie, I enjoyed every bit of it.
I had never been to a Holi party before, so I was really excited about it. But honestly, it sucked! The place was too damn crowded, with no proper litter management, no good food stalls, and overpriced water bottles(ya I just sound like one whiny aunty but couldn’t help it). Like apart from meeting some new people I don’t think anything fruitful came out of that deal.
I think the learning out of this is pretty obvious— this is the last Holi party I’ll be ever attending.
In general social media presence-wise, my podcast channel also got a boost because I had an opportunity to get Shreya Pattar to talk about freelancing and social media (Random promotion: Check this episode out if you haven’t already!)
A very insightful conversation but I knew I had a long way to go when it came to being a podcaster 🙆🏻♀️ Like I have this feeling that I can get too mechanical sometimes, so I just wanna loosen up and be more natural at having the conversations. (I know it’ll happen over time and more recordings but somehow getting it out here feels good)
Workwise everything was going well, I was getting hang of what goes around and how things work(yes, 3 months probation period was coming to an end). Office days are actually awesome and to be very honest working alongside people get things done faster than online meets (just a personal opinion, but yes I am still a major supporter of the hybrid system)
Random wisdom out of the month…
These came out of the overall experience of the March and hoping I remember them in the long run:
A long trip/many in-person hangouts with someone, give you the REAL picture of who they are (it’s good when one looks for dating I feel)
Some milestones won’t feel that special to you but being grateful is necessary
You can’t expect to know yourselves better unless you decide to go for the most different and unexpected events (could be an adventure, meeting new people)
I’ll stop right here because the universe is like:
